We got a locker (which, might I add, blew my mind)! The lockers open when you scan your wristband barcode. We were greeted with a fun, colorful “Main Street” of shops and restaurants as we made our way to the water park portion of Alabama Splash Adventure. We arrived right when the gates opened (10:30 a.m.) and proceeded into the park. Fast forward to today, we took our kids back for the fourth time, and I must say, it gets even better each visit! The park changed hands again in May 2008 when it was purchased by Adrenaline Family Entertainment. The following year, the name was changed to Alabama Adventure. In 2005, the park opened Zoomerang, a shuttle roller coaster purchased from a closed Australian amusement park named Wonderland Sydney. For the 2003 season, the name was changed to "Visionland" (the "L" now lowercase) and the park reopened following $5 million in renovations. A competing bid was placed by Themeparks LLC, who at the time also owned Magic Springs and had previously owned Kentucky Kingdom. It was subsequently put up for sale and was sold to Southland on Janufor $5.25 million. The park filed for bankruptcy in June, claiming it was $100 million in debt. VisionLand did not operate at all during the 2002 season. The park was built by West Jefferson Amusement and Public Park Authority, an organization created by 11 cities.
